you use the manual mode to control the gearing. You can then hold the gears longer to give you more power.
Also on the down hills it can help for engine braking.
You will have to try tow/haul and manual mode and see what works best for you.

I like the fact that is is not drooping in the middle like so many do.
Someone had learned how to load and adjust the hitch correctly.

I see so many around here that look like they have no clue with the
weight loaded wrong or overloaded tow vehicle almost dragging the hitch.

why not just look at the door post of the truck you're considering buying. you should be able to find the gvw, gross weight, and or the combined gross weight. Truck plus trailer. it's a good rule of thumb to allow yourself about 20% lee way on cgvw. you might also look at Trailer Life Magazines "tow rating" books that come out every year. You can fid them online.

Door cert cannot tell what you need to know. Trailer life can give some information but unless they cut and paste from Ford's towing guide it is of limited use.

You use the 4x4 in the reference chart to determine your towing capacities.
That is the only purpose in the listing of 4x2 or 4x4.

I’m a yard dog, I bounce from shipyard to shipyard welding. I currently have an ext cab sort box obs 97 f250 hd with the 460 and an auto. I head to Cleveland Ohio from northern Wisconsin next week. While I’m in Ohio I’m planning on buying a super duty to pull my 38 ft camper, the camper loaded weighs about 9-10k and I will be towing it across country. Now I stay in a yard until the job is done or 48 weeks which ever comes first. So am I further ahead with a 7.3 or a v-10v needs to be auto so my wife can drive it, she refuses to learn stick. The camper is a tow behind travel trailer not a 5er. I have my reasons. The truck will be damn near stock, egr delete, exhaust, cold air intake, tuner. The budget is about 5k.
