1979 F150 Headliner
Hi...I have a '79 F150 with an original headliner, today I decided to take down the trim and give it a good polish, and replace the screws with stainless, well I had to take it down only a section at a time, because it seemed the headliner would fall if I took it all off, and being it was a one man job, well you know how that goes.
anyway, is the, headliner just loose up there, or is it attached or adhered in some way, or should it be.
Thanks.....p.s. the trim looks awesome now

Headliners in general are usually held up by the trim around them (&/or dome lights through them) ... The one in my truck has also got a screw right in the middle. Not sure if that's original or not though. I need to get new trim for mine (lots of rust spots), but haven't taken it down yet.

Dome light is not in the roof liner. If your old one has not been take down before, it might still have a small patch of velcro on the center cab roof strip. If it sags now, then sounds like the velcro has let go. No worries fit it later
Setting in the middle of the seat, armed with an elec screwdriver take the front headliner brackets that curve around to the sides, off 1st. Then using the sun visors to hold the front liner sort of up in place.
Then take the 2 separate backs bars off. Balance it on you head as you set in the middle of the seat. Get new velcro for the complete center strip.
Install in reverse order. Again setting in the middle of the seat, front of new headliner under the sun visors, have the 2 rear brackets loosely mounted.
Then put up the left side on with a curve, then the right one. With a little middle sag, you want it there. You want it like barely under the trim bracket. then tighten 1/2 way. Then push up the center velcro part. Then tighten the complete outer frame.

Do you see the blue line with User CP, Albums, FAQ? See the SEARCH on that line?
It has a drop down search menu arrow, go to the "Advanced Search" option, and at the top left side (search block) type in there what you are looking for and then go to the lower right column and highlight 73-79 forum. Select it and then you will have a detailed search just in the 73-79 forums.
