Indeed.
How's everyone making through the "May miracle".
Kinda glad I wasn't working in Hollywood last night.
Those "storm drains" aren't used to storms

Just wrap a plastic bag over the controller of the power chair and i am good to go. Of course, I would have been better off if I did not forget my backpack (with the umbrella in it) before heading out this morning, but I on;y got wet for about 10-15 minutes at the most, then I was indoors until the rain passed by.

Funny you should mention that as I did my laundry before I left today. LOL. In my defense (for not bringing the backpack) they did say only a 10% chance of rain today. I just happened to be outside when that 10% hit.

Here is the news report on the accident, with the surveillance video. Viewer discretion advised.

Its a reminder of the constant dangers we face. To most, we are the good guys, to some we are not, and a few have no grasp on reality at all. Most people dont understand, but there is a surprisingly large segment of the population who feels threatened by EMS because we work with the Police or any number of other reasons. Thankfully, most still know we are on their side.
This could very easily have ended differently, with memorial services scheduled for two of my brothers.
About a month or so ago, I was attacked by a stray pit bull in the riverbed while searching for a patient in a homeless camp. I made it out alright, but not without a few punches being thrown from both corners of the ring.
When I joined ems I never envisioned I would be fighting pitbulls or fighting off crazy women with knives and a thirst for vehicular homicide.
I am deeply saddened for the innocent driver, and his family, but also relieved the paramedic, EMT and additional lives were not lost.
