Where to get a NEW steering gear box?

I just replaced my sloppy old steering gear box on my 1994 F150 4X4 300 EFI with a Remanufactured box from Oreilly. Unfortunately, the reman box has more slop than my old one! I have inspected the entire system to see if there is anywhere else the slop could be coming from (and I just did the ball joints, shocks and wheel bearings 5 months ago), but the fact is, the steering shaft is tight and is turning the pin going into the gear box around 25 degrees each way before the pitman arm is moved at all. I have read on other threads to avoid remanufactured boxes, but where can I get a new one??

I am totally going to take back the reman box I just put in, but Oreilly can only provide a refund or another reman box. autozone, carquest, and napa in my area all only have remans. Even amazon, ebay, autopartswarehouse.com only have remans. Any ideas where I can buy a new one, or a new aftermarket one?

You might try exchanging it but test the new one before leaving the store. See if they have a rag joint and turn it by hand.

I recently replaced the box in my '90 f150 with an O'Reilly model and still have approx 3/4" play in the wheel. Its frustrating but better than it was.

I have about 2-3 inches of play haha. 3/4 of an inch would be a dream at this point

If they let you take it back for a refund, get a redhead steering gear. The best.
