Thanks so far.

Yes, please do. This is too much of a guessing game without it.

I have borrowed the pictures from the owner and according to the info I got it is repainted to match meadow green. Both pictures, same truck, different lights. That is the interesting thing with colors, they look different in different lights.....

OK, so here are the best pictures that I could get. These are of the ash tray frame.

That looks more like Army green, I believe Olive Drab was the correct name. IMO, the F100 shown above is a pretty darn close Meadow Green. It looks like the F350 in my avatar and in my gallery. BTW, my F350 is painted with PPG using their formula for Meadow Green.

I agree with all of you. It is NOT Meadow Green and it does look like olive drab. Maybe your truck was a military vehicle?

Interesting. Has anyone ever figured out how to trace the history of our trucks?

My experience here has been fairly unsuccessful. Unless you have a paper trail from past owners, it will be next to impossible to track down any useful history.

There are no records that I'm aware of for these old trucks. From the serial number and cowl stamping, we can determine the plant, date and original color at time of manufacture. As for the color, if it is SS, which is "special", that would not really tell us anything.

Others more knowledgeable on the subject may chime in.

If it was a military vehicle ordered by the DoD, there would also be plaques affixed to the dash. They may have been removed by now, but the holes for them might remain. These plaques look similar to the one below, that was on an ex-Forest Service ****** I had.

I wonder if this is any better? I scraped off some of the paint on the bottom edge of the hood back to original paint, then shot a little clear over it. Is this any closer to Meadow Green? Or is it another green altogether?

Doesn't look Meadow Green to me. I still say it's more like the phone company truck Ross showed or an olive drab military truck color.

I don't remember seeing your rating plate. Does it have an SS on it for the paint color?

Being a 51, made in Michigan and left hand drive I'd bet on it having been a US army truck sent over during the war (or part of the lend lease sent to Britain and then shipped to Aus.?) Contrary to today's military vehicles the OD paint they used then was more a semi/near gloss than flat.

Ax, he's in Kenmore, not Australia.

Hulleywoodworking, wouldn't it make more sense to just scrap down the firewall area and look for the stampings that show what the original color was? Obviously, what you keep asking about is not a Ford color, it appears to be some color somebody somewhere along the last 64 put on the truck, possibly as a primer or undercoat.

I describe Meadow Green as having a grayish tint to it. Here's a picture of my cab right after we painted it Meadow Green. Obviously not an example of original paint but it looks like I remember it on the farm truck when I was a kid.
