Auxiliary lights placement options

just remember to be courteous and dim those extra bright lights when approaching oncoming vehicles. I can tell you first hand that as you age (maybe 50+) your eyes don't appreciate those blinding lights coming at you… and make sure they are aimed correctly. No sense doing all that work to shine one light at mars and the other at a gopher hole...

I always loved t he headlights in my original 88 bricknose: They provided the BEST lighting of almost any vehicle I've owned! And my favorite story is about when i was driving in Knoxville, Tn. many years back, about 2am, rolling west on 40, in the middle of what seemed like six lanes wide, and this guy comes off the ramp, cuts across ALL these OPEN lanes of traffic to pull his '50s pickup directly in front of me(the ONLY vehicle in the area) doing 50! I hit the brakes and the high beams- it looked like God was sitting in the cab with him it got so bright! There was a tractor-trailer going the opposite way who commented on the CB about the guy lighting up the pickup on 40... I explained WHY I had lit him up(cutting across all those nice, empty lanes to cut me off!) and he got the picture, and laughed... I backed off, and went around him... Reminded me of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"... lol...
Those headlights should clean up, and with better bulbs & relays, should be just fine... Even my current bricknose, with slightly beat up headlights gives a good showing... FAR better than my 2003 Police Interceptor! I can ride around all night with the high beams on, and no one notices! Nor do they give very good illumination! Even on high beam, they are barely better than the low beams on my bricknose: been that way since I bought the car, and no amount of adjustment improves them...

Did you do the relays on your '88? I've checked the lenses and they're actually pretty darn clear. I think it's a combination of tired lights and poor current due to the factory wiring setup. If someone has a link to the eBay or LMC kit can you post it? Not sure if I'm going that route or just cutting factory wires to put relays in.

Here are links to a couple of the kits. one says you can run higher wattage bulbs but that would likely melt the housing.
The lmc on its on their site. I can't tell much about it because their site sucks.
My question now, is if doing this would be better than doing LED conversion or of it would help the LEDs.

To fabricate, you'll need 14g wire in at least four colors. two relays, two headlight plugs, eyelet terminals for grounds, two male spade terminals for the relay on/off signals (hi/lo), and female spade terminals for the relays unless you opt for relay plugs.
The cost difference btwn the LMC and a home-fabbed harness is minimal. I got them as a matter of convenience. However, buy the components in bulk, like from Delcity.net, and the savings increases.

The only thing i don't get is why have a ground at each headlight, when ONE near the power supply is more than enough
