carb and intake questions

i want to put a carb and intake on my 85 f250 with the 351w. it has the factory 2 barrel carb and factory intake everything else on the motor is factory except for the hedders. it has heddman long tube headers and flow master 40's. What would be a good carb and intake settup, i also plan on doing heads and a cam down the road, any imput would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Do you have a sandwich-sized silver ignition control module mounted on the driver's-side wheel covering under the hood? Or, is it a much smaller unit mounted on the distributor?

If this is a daily driver, I've always had good (trouble free) luck with the Eldelbrock Performer intakes and carbs. I currently have 2 vehicles (83 CJ and truck in sig block). Both setups were purchased off eBay, to include linkage for the Ford auto tans kickdown and A/C Solenoid (both Edelbrock bolt-on parts).

Knock on wood, both were easy direct swap and have given me zero problems to date.

Make sure to check that dist out like Chris mentioned. You may have a computer controlled ignition.

So, you have a computer-controlled ignition and carburetor that you want to replace with non-computer-controlled stuff... OK, but you'll need to do it all at the same time to keep it from becoming a dog...

I second that. The Eddy 1406 is a good carb for economy, and the 1405 is good for power.
