66 F100 Tranny cooler Mount?

I have a 66 sb 2wd f100 with a 4.9l. I recently upgraded the cooling system when I installed my old air products ac system. By updated I guess I mean I installed the biggest factory style radiator I could find. I have a 2000 cfm 16" fan which always kept the truck cool UNTIL i put the ac on. Now temp will creep to 210-220 on a 110 degree day sitting at idle. I live in norcal. For the most part though I can somewhat keep it under control by turning off ac and not sitting in traffic. Gonna change to a 7 blade clutch fan and build a shroud to see if that helps. Anyways. I am now putting the aod in and do not want to use the radiator to cool tranny fluid or mount a cooler in front of the condensor. I may be able to fit it on the motor side of the radiator with a electric fan or somehow fit it in the shroud although i doubt it. I was looking at the radiator support and was thinking about cutting a hole in it and mounting a cooler and a electric fan there. Have any of you tried this? The only draw back I see is the tire would be a foot or so behind it and to the side. May fling some water up at it if its raining. Any ideas would be greatly Appreciated.
P.S. this is my daily driver so i want max airflow and dont want to mount it under the bed.

I would ditch the electric fans, get a good clutch fan and shroud and see if your cooling problems go away - as you are planning. I would do that and check back in with results.

I would fix my cooling system before I chopped up my core support.

P.S. I would almost be willing to bet that you don't have the biggest bolt in radiator available either.

It was the biggest factory 3 core radiator that had the right inlet and outlet for a straight 6. The full size one and not the small one with the block off plate. Looked at those cheap aluminum ones but did not hear a bunch of good things about them. Don't get me wrong. I probably could have spent $1000 on a cooling system but that wasn't it the cards. I think my cooling system will be ok just don't want to put anymore heat in front of the radiator.

Have you checked which way the air is actually flowing with the fan on? It is possible the polarity is reversed from before, and it is blowing forward, not to the rear of the truck.
Also check that you did not reverse a water pump pulley circulation as part of an on-going upgrade, say for serpentine pulleys? If you use the wrong pulley, it will pump backwards as well.

Nope it is blowing the right direction. I haven't changed the water pump at all lately. Although I should check to see if they make different water pump pulleys for vbelt 4.9's. Mine in huge.
I trully think my cooling system will be ok. I just dont want to block my condensor/radiator with another heat source. Fishing for ideas for cooler placement

This won't make you feel any better, but I have the same problem with my '66 with 390 and 5 speed manual and Classic Auto Air system. Fitted large radiator, 7 blade 17 inch fan, and shroud. Fan blades are in correct relation to radiator and shroud. No overheating issues at all as long as I'm moving. But stopped at a traffic light in 100 degree plus temperatures, I can watch the temp gauge climb. I just decided that's the way it's gonna be and work around it. I'll be interested to hear if you solve the problem. Good luck!
