I am in the process of removing the 3rd member to put in 3.70 POSI and I came across this.....
I have a good one for you all...... I started taking apart the 9” and everything went pretty smooth until I noticed that one of the nuts, was well, not a nut, or at least one that I have never seen. It is circled in blue and roughly at the 9-oclock position at the passenger side of the 3rd member. It does not even resemble the other 9 bolts. All of the 9 nuts that I removed off of the bolts were 9/16” and had a copper crush washer that I had to remove. The one “nut” in question is not 9/16”, not 7/16” or 3/8”. It is between 7/16” and 3/8”. I can’t even tell if it is even hexagonal . There is a copper crush washer under the “thing”. Do any of you have any clue what it is, or how I can remove it? I figured I would ask before I rig-n-removal.

Reason: pic
FYI.. that is the stud on which an axle ID tag is usually affixed.
Metric?
Interesting.......this one isn't even close to the other 9 bolts. Can't imagine why only 1 of the 10 would be this way unless it was for a reason. There aren't even any threads on the stud. I tried wire brush to clean.....didn't try de-greaser, yet. Either way, the OD of the stud isn't the same as the other 9.
FYI - The tag was on the other side, on another stud.
10MM is in between 7/16 and 3/8 for future reference.
Yes. I was going to try this place to see if there was any help as to what this was, before I was going to start removal, since there is a ton of knowledge on here.
Just take some vice grips and try to remove the nut and or the nut and stud. If no luck then cut the nut off. You can replace the stud when it's apart.
