Headlight switch - 1955 f100
Like a bad penny, I'm back. I have at least paid to become a supporter. This site had paid for itself 10x over.
Ok. I'm trying to wire my headlight switch. I've seen the diagrams on this site and they don't seem to jive with my set up. My switch has the following male terminals from the front to back:
I-instrument panel?
H -I understand goes to the floor dimmer switch?
P - there appears to be two of these (maybe one is R?). Are these parking lights? Tail lights?
D- dome? Dimmer?
B - battery?
And then behind D a screw terminal marked A. Behind that appears to be a fuse holder.
Any feedback or diagrams would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Easy one, all you need is a test light. And Its like this. One terminal Is B+
the very front at the reostat terminal is the dash lights. One terminal is for
tailights, one for front parking, and one that goes to the headlight dimmer
switch. Now the tailight "running Lamps" is always on nomatter what position,
what I always do is wire the front parking light wire to the tailight terminal, so
the park lights are allways on. We do this cause my trucks (big) have marker
lights front fender guide lights. That way they are on whether park or head
postiions. Looks cool I also put double filiment sockets in the park with amber
bulbs so they serve as park, run and directional lights. easy to figure out with a simple trickle charger and a test light. I dont think there is a dome light position on these switches. We did put the door jam switches any Napa the hole is already there. All Ford prod. use the same switch. Also dont forget to spray the
dash light reostat with carb. cleaner they get dirty that makes dash lights
flicker funny I just went through that. Another good tip. All these clusters are
a super pain to remove. Every one of these I cut all the wires, mounted a bannana board, made a two foot wire loom. This way its so simple to disconnect speedometer cabe four screws and the whole cluster comes out to place it on your lap. Mainly to get at those wimply wiper bellcranks, or to oil
them. Taking out the cluster and the glove box is the only way for wiper repair. Man they tucked them wires in up there!!!!

If you go here: http://www.clubfte.com/users/earl/Re...%20Information and scroll thru you will find a wiring diagram for the 1956 12V Neg ground, and the 53-55 6V pos ground, including the switch terminals.
The same diagrams are in the Mid Fifty catalog, another reason to get one, they're free for the asking! Home - Mid Fifty F-100 Parts

Please understand I was not trying to brush you off or anything. The Mid Fifty catalog is a wealth of useful information and can be much quicker to get answers that waiting for an answer on here. It's a must have for anyone working on a 53-56 truck. We are still here for questions not answered in there.
