Hi everyone, this looks like a great forum. My name is Michael and I recently purchased my first vehicle, a 2000 F-150 XLT, with the 5.4L Triton V8 and auto, SuperCab, 8-foot bed. She's a big truck but I love it. I wanted an 8-foot bed and my parents wanted me to get a truck with two rows of seats. Don't really need a Super Duty (yet), and I've always had a thing for the pre-1997 Old Body Style trucks rather than the post-2004 models. I decided to get a 1997-2003 model because it wasn't too old but wasn't too new either. Especially up my way in NJ we have a lot of rusty OBS trucks from the amount of salt they use here. I come from a family of Ford owners; my grandfather has owned Ford's since the 1940's and used them on the farm for the longest time and then passed the "sickness" on to my three uncles who own nothing but Ford now. Sure enough I got the bug too and now I have a nice Ford. She needs some work but I couldn't complain for the price I paid and for the low miles it had for being over 15 years old. I'm really happy with "Big Blue" and look forward to running it daily. Lots of upgrades are in this thing's future but for right now I just need to focus on feeding it gas.

When you get a chance, introduce your self to the NJ Chapter page. You will see there that we are having a Get To Gether (GTG) this weekend at Englishtown swap meet. We do this every year. Few of us hang out in between shopping for truck stuff. I will be mostly out because I have a booth at the other end F-200 Great place to pick up deals and make connections. Try to make it out. BTW, where in so NJ? I live in New Egypt.

 

Thank you for the info Scott. I will check the NJ page out. The GTG sounds pretty cool, I'll have to think about stopping by. I do have some connections through the family but I'd like to meet a lot more people as well. I am in the Mullica Hill area. I've been up to New Egypt once to go to the races there. My mom's side of the family have been running dirt race cars since the 70's so it's in our blood. I go to Bridgeport Speedway a lot.
