torque converter advice

Hey everybody. I have an 81 f150 with a 400, 9.5 pistons, 214/224 cam, performer intake and long tube headers. My c6 is slipping and needs a rebuild. I have a 2400 stall converter in it now but think it may be a little high due to the 400's powerband and now would be the time to change it up. What are your guys opinions? 2400 good, too high, 1800 too low? I also have 3.50 gears. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I would put a stock one in it. You are correct, the 400 has a lot of low end to it, and you are not taking any advantage of that with the higher stall converters.

Thanks for the reply Franklin. It has good power but I have been thinking I have been missing out on some of the low end grunt.
