Im trying to upgrade my motor and get more hp without having to actually swapping motors. Like pulling parts from junk yards from different vehicles that are compatable with my 97 ranger. Any help and suggestion would be greatly apprietiated and a big thank you in advance.

 

I hate to tell you but the 2.3L has no higher performance parts available from the junk yard other then doing a swap with a Turbo 2.3L engine or swapping the parts from one on to your engine. The problem with that last idea is that your engine is not built to take much boost while the turbo version was.


Don't get me wrong, the 2.3L engine can be hopped up but not cheaply and most likely not emissions legal either. The turbo versions were last sold in 1989 in the Mekur XR4Ti. The Tbird had one from the mid 80's up to 1988.
That is the one to use or one from a SVO Mustang but those are rare.


A swap to a V6 seems to be the easiest way since you can use stock parts from a Ranger that had a V6.
