Exclamation 1987 F250 Engine Rebuild

Hello! this is my first time posting here. I've been following a few posts and decided that I should post my own as my questions may be unique. So here goes: I have a 1987 F250 4x4 5.8L 351W with carb. I would like to rebuild the engine which I've read about in other posts but I'm wondering, do I leave the carb or are there cheap upgrades outside of EFI conversion? As it is, the engine leaks oil out of every gasket but runs fine, except for start ups. It requires a lengthy warm up time before I can even think of putting it drive. I'm planning 4" lift with 33" but want to focus on the engine first. I've done a lot of work on various cars but this is my first engine rebuild. please help.

Efi conversions are cheap. Cost you probably <200 bucks at the junkyard to pull everything associated.

Besides that it's cut and dry. Heads, cam, long tubes, stroker if you can afford it. Hundreds of threads on here for efi builds.

If you are a novice mechanic I'd stick with a stock rebuild and the carburetor. There are plenty of guys here that can "do it all" but unless you have a lot of experience I'd keep it simple. What's EZ for a talented mechanic can be pretty daunting for some one with just basic skills.
