223 exhaust manifold

I'm trying to find an original exhaust manifold. I purchased a 1959 f100 2wd with a 223 about a month ago. I bought it out of state, sight unseen but did have a buddy go look at it and do the deal for me. I finally picked it up last weekend. Towed it home and once I got it running I realized there is a piece of the exhaust manifold broken off and missing. Disappointing but the price was right so I'm glad the motor even runs. I spent a couple hours on the computer looking for a manifold with no luck...couldn't even find headers. I would much prefer the original manifold over headers tho. I finally got a line on a manifold today for an outrageous price. I also have a '60 f100 2wd with a 223 but the manifold on it curves back toward the cab where it connects to the pipe whereas the '59 points straight down. The '60 is in running condition so I hate to rob the manifold off of it plus I would have to change my exhaust pipe. So, anybody know where I can find manifold and what to expect to pay?

I have seen them on ebay, usually around $100 plus shipping IIRC.

I have one I'll part with for a reasonable price. I tried to PM you but I've done more lurking than posting & It appears I need to get a couple more posts before I can send a message.

Yeah, Crazy Coop, I mostly prefer to lurk too. There is already so much information on these forums just about every question is already answered. Anyway, I'm interested! No 223 exhaust manifold on ebay right now.

I'm pretty sure all 223 manifolds had the exhaust connection that angled back. The earlier 215 six (52-53) had it pointing straight down.....maybe your manifold or engine was swapped at some point. They look almost identical and some parts interchange.
Post some pics of your engine and manifold if you can.

The 215 manifolds with the straight pipe are pretty rare to find.

Here is the best shot I could get of the exhaust manifold.

The motor if original should be a 223 according to the VIN tag.

Interesting.......your engine is a 223 for sure. I have 4 223's and all have the angled pipe. My 215 has the straight one.

If you can find a good exhaust manifold at a decent price, I'd grab it and modify the exhaust pipe if necessary.

Ok, thanks for the advice, tinman52! Thats pretty much the direction I was heading but good to know which manifold to chase down. The whole truck will come apart at some point and get the attention it needs.

Ben, I sent you a PM.

It took a couple of hours after my 5th post for my messaging to activate.

Thanks
