Today is the day........
It took me a while to figure out it wasn't a standard queen. I have slept on kings for so long, that when I started sleeping on the queen in my RV, I just thought that was how queens were. It wasn't until buying a new set of sheets for it at an RV store that I realized there were two sizes of queen. Not knowing before then that was the case, I guessed that mine was the short version, since my feet were hanging off of the end, and bought the appropriately sized sheet set.
Yep, the RV queen is 60X75 and a real queen is 60X80. The ladies usually don't mind but us guys are left hanging off the end. I've actually avoided certain RV's that I was considering in the past when I found out the floorplan required an RV queen. The industry is leaning away from the practice these days but 10 years ago they were used quite often to make a floorplan work.
Dave - WOW!
Rodney, I would never have thought that I would need to take a tape measure with me to shop for RVs, but I guess it is either that, or take off my shoes and try out the bed. With a several minutes of privacy, we could REALLY test the quality of the mattress in order to make a more informed decision.

Nice! King bed, pull out kitchen. Love it.
The boys around FTE have taught me that the best way to purchase an RV is to find the one that weighs the most and is the longest on the lot. Then go shopping for a larger truck. I enjoy they way people around here think.

Thanks for that. I almost had coffee coming out my nose.
We are kind of thinking along the same lines. None of the mattresses we sat on while at the show felt super comfortable, so a swap may very well be due shortly after purchase of the rig. Of course, sitting on a bed and lying on a bed are two different things, so before we would go throwing the baby out with the bathwater, we would give it a few nights to test it out and see if it's any good. We just recently replaced the mattress in our bedroom and can't belive the difference it makes in NOT waking up sore anymore.
The mattress that's in our current rig - besides being too short for me - isn't very comfortable, as you can feel every spring in it trying to stab you while you sleep. I put a thick down topper on it and that helps a bunch, but still not the best night's sleep you could hope for. When I looked into the foam toppers, they were terribly expensive. I haven't looked in a while though.
