Today is the day........
That's a hell of a splitter Rodney! My dad's 22 ton SpeeCo hasn't met a log it can't crack. Guess the 35 ton will do the b@stard pieces quicker though. I do like the engine opposite the operator. Dad's is same side and in the summer it cooks you, not to mention fumes.
Picked the camper up today, they did a nice job hiding/sealing the siding crack. I walked away with a bill under $300 so I'm happy. Hit Cabelas on the way home at about 10, place was absolutely DEAD! At least 50% if not more of the people there were just running thier little monsters like us. Mikey really liked the fish in the aquariums.............the elephant in the African display was a close second. Didn't buy a thing but lunch. Headed home in a 16-20 mph headwind on 78. No surprises, but the truck thought diesel was free that's for sure.
Also picked up a new LED floodlight for over the driveway from a buddy. Hope to get that wired up tomorrow to replace the halogen light that can't keep bulbs. I need more light for nighttime snow removal.

I have a 27 ton MTD Troybuilt, it has stopped on only one piece since I got it. A little readjusting and that piece too has found it's way into the fire. I've seen those 35 ton models locally, they are beasts. Interesting you use it vertically, I only stand mine up if I can't pick up the log.
My 4 legged beast would defeat the neater feeder, she has loose lips and drips for several steps away from the bowl. Works fine for a good dog I am sure.

Eric, your MTD is likely the same as the White I had. Back when I bought my White, there are 4 or so brands that are all made by the same company with a different paint job. Those are two of them. They also made a Cub Cadet splitter and a Yard Machines splitter. Maybe another? I can't remember as I researched them a long time ago when I bought my last one. They were all the same other than the color and stickers attached and came in three sizes. 22, 27, and 31 ton if I remember correctly. The great part about the 35 ton I just got is that it's about the same price as the 27 ton from other brands. It also has one of the fastest cycle times in the industry which is a real plus.
I've hung my 27t up on big knotty stuff enough in the past to say, get the biggest for the very small price difference. As to always going vertical, many of the trees I drop are too big to lift to the horizontal position when doing the trunks. Some of the large red oak I've split have produced 40 wedges per round. The rounds were 3-4' across on those. Def not lifting those...LOL. Anyways, by the time I get to the top or branches that are small enough for horizontal, it's not worth changing method at that point. I find positioning much easier with vertical too. Just hold it with your knee and pull the lever. The large stuff I split in half, move one half over to the side and start working the second half. The huge stuff I have to do that twice.

Cabelas was easy, its really just a place to wander. Occasionally we find some camping/hiking/outdoors gadget we can't live without, but the trailer is pretty well stocked after 3 years. I'm also being cheap because there's a major purchase coming up as soon as the grass turns green. The anticipation is starting to get to me at this point.
Borrowed a trailer and brought home the other crate today. Got her assembled too. No start though as despite being at Walmart yesterday and driving by it TWICE today, I neglected to pick up any T6 to fill it up. Ah well, tomorrow is another day...
Once assembly was done, I removed about 20 warning stickers from it. I think this was the first thing to come through with more warning stickers than my RV!
