For those of you on the fence on the EOH disks, all i can say is here is wow. Pads are not even seated yet and i have the controller down to 6.5. Any more than that and the camper was stopping the truck, not the truck stopping the camper. Never experienced such strong trailer brakes.
That's great Chad! They'll likely get a little stronger yet!

They had the lower overload off and on their press in about 3 minutes. Wow. Having the right tools and knowledge is amazing...

Morning everyone! Been a busy weekend, away from the computer all weekend so a lot of catching up to do.

We had a crib chewer too. I think he was just hungry because he ate like a horse too. He's also the wild and crazy one of the bunch with a nickname of sledge. Yeah, that's short for sledgehammer because he goes about everything as if he were one.

All 5000k LED's in our house and detached garage. Love the white lite. I've tried to find decent ones for the RV, but no luck. I had outfitted the entire RV with some, but over half failed by the second trip so they all went back.

Crazy what someone who knows what they're doing and has the proper tools can get done in a short period of time. Be sure to report back on the StableLoads.

Side note, Rodney, I think we have the exact same counter tops in our house...or at least very close. LOL.

Have a great week all!

I've been very satisfied with these LED's in my RV. Been in over a year, did the whole trailer.

I'm waiting for the IS/Disc review If I decide to stay with the fiver and there is a considerable improvement in how much stuff bounces inside then I'll go that route. Never really worried about the brakes even on the 6+% downhill runs that last for miles.

Is it possible to just order totally new axles that already have disk brakes on them? The reason I ask is that it seems that most trailers come with axles that just barely cover the GVWR of the trailer, so why not get axles that have more fudge-factor.

Unless there was a mistake at the factory which has happened the axles will be enough for the trailer (barely). Incase you or someone else comes along remember that when looking at the axle carrying cap it's just that...the weight that's on the axle not the whole trailer weight. Some of the trailer weight is carried on the pin. Some folks get that mixed up and think that if the gross trailer carrying capacity is 16k but they only have 2 7k axles that the axles are under rated but the balance is carried on the pin hitch.

Mine has 3 7k axles and a 21k GVWR so after the pin takes it's share, I still have a good buffer.

It's the "barely" part that bothers me. I bent the axle on my ATV trailer. The original axle "barely" covered the GVWR of the trailer and weight of my ATV was real close to the limit. After bending the axle I replaced it with a heavier axle that also included brakes. This was a single axle trailer which you rarely find brakes on.

If you were going to replace the axles to get disc brakes wouldn't it be better to go the IS route? Not sure what the price differential would be. I have 2x 7k axles and 15k GVWR, my axles were carrying 11,600# last time I scaled.

I have a travel trailer, so not as much weight is tongue as is on a 5th wheel. But I was aware that not all the GVWR was on the axles. I'm definitely into overkill.

Kodiak i believe had a 8k axle conversion kit with their disk brakes. Might require 17.5 wheels though, i didn't research that to much.

Those look identical to the ones I put in, but I bought them off Amazon. Guess maybe I got some lookalike duds.

We're seriously considering trading our fiver next year, so I'll probably hold off as most of the new ones come with LEDs now.
