I was just looking at last minute flights to points south. Never been to an island and never saw white sands / blue waters. Sometimes there are deals to fill those empty spots. I'm still hoping for Quebec though. Maybe more westerly than we had planned.

Drive on down to NYC and take a cruise to the Caribbean, best vacation ever (IMO). We do this quite a bit when we want to get a way, it's only a 7hr. drive to the port for us. If I lived as close to the cruise port as you do, I'd be broke! We love cruising.

I bet those cruises are different than the ones I went on many years ago. All the ships were Gray and had USS before their name.............

Tony, we have friends doing two weeks out of NJ right now. How far can you go in 5 days though? I suppose we could stretch it a bit...

You won't get very far from the North in 5 days. The shortest cruise we've been on is 7 days, but I prefer at least 9 days out of NYC. The 9 day will get you down to St. Thomas / St. Marten. The 7 day usually goes to Florida and the Bahamas.

I looked into it. Can fly to Tampa and do 7 nights for about 2k. I think there is hope for sledding though as they got a bit more snow today. Going to try and stick to the plan unless a washout is reported...

Yes Roy, much different. It's a very relaxing week at sea being waited on constantly. You've probably had your fill of being on a ship at sea though, huh?

I'll take snow. LOL. The wife and I aren't really beach people. She's as white as ghost and I'm pink. Coppertone's stock would crash without us. (Remember Tony, I'm of Scottish decent. We get a burn during a full moon...) Plus we don't sit still well. We're doers on vacation. Never been on a cruise or to anywhere tropical really. However, if it's sit home or that, we'll take it! I've always wanted to scuba dive...

You're going to see the whole family melt next July/August...

I'd agree with Tony and take sand over snow any day! And I'm not really a beach guy. We gave the island thing a try over the summer with 4 nights in Punta Cana. It confirmed that buying the camper was the right thing for us. We'll stay in the US and Canada. The beaches and resort were beautiful, the a/c sucked, the food sucked, and I paid for the food or ice (didn't think of that!) for 3 weeks.

Just make sure you bring plenty of that coppertone stuff to Myrtle Beach with you. I'd hate to see you all become lobsters on the first say like I did last summer.

If you've never sledded, it's a hard addiction to explain. And I don't mean on a rental or 10 minutes around your buddies yard on some 1980's 2 stroke smoking wreck. I'm talking a luxury high powered sled on groomed trails. Cruising at 50-80 with the occasional 100 MPH rip. Doing 100-300 miles a day on perfectly groomed trails seeing scenery you couldn't any other way. It's kind of like combining riding a street motorcycle and floating/flying. Plus all the hotels, restaurants, and fuel stops are right on the trail. It's quite the experience. Unfortunately it's weather dependent and el nino is not playing nice...
