Today is the day........
I'm agreeing with Rodney here. Your fridge should have no trouble keeping it under 40, regardless of sun. Ours just has a setting 1-5, and a setting of 5 freezes things in the fridge even when it's 100 out. We keep a gallon of water for drinking in the fridge and it actually gets super-cooled and makes slush when you dump it in a cup.
I did buy a small fan to clip to the coils and wire to the hot side of the 12V leg for the fridge, but it wasn't needed so I got rid of it.
Another thing...make sure the RV (well, the fridge) is good and level. If it isn't level, it won't work as well.

I'll check the fridge level out tomorrow.
As I was driving into my neighborhood something fell off the trailer. When we got to the house and inspected the trailer we found one of the hubcaps missing. This is the type of hubcap that allows access to the EZ Lube zerk fitting. No big deal, I have two replacement hubcaps ready to go. I thought it was funny that it lasted the entire trip, just to fall off a couple blocks from home.

Isn't it weird the way those things happen. My parents bought an RV several years ago to park on some land they had bought. It had been sitting on a seasonal site for 10 years or so, and the tires were in bad shape. My dad decided to give it a shot and it made the 3 hour drive to their house with no issues (or brakes). He did some minor work on it, and was leaving a couple days later to pull it the 20 miles to their land where he was going to put it and he didn't make it 1/4 mile and the right rear tire disintegrated taking out the drain with it. Crazy it made it that far only to die just after he left.

I think they are. At least the freezer is. My wife had a tough time opening it a couple times. Like there was a vacuum in in the compartment. Beats me how it did that. I'll add checking the seals to my list. Today I cleaned the outside compartment that is the back of the refrigerator. Lots of dust/dirt.
How would I check the vent? Do I need to remove the cap on the roof and look into the pipes?

Jim, my fridge freezes stuff - even in the heat and constant use it got in Kentucky. The only time my fridge "warmed" was while en route from home to Jackson, Tennessee in 10.5 hours of driving with it on propane instead of 110v, and it was still cold, but wasn't freezing stuff in the fridge. The freezer compartment still had frost though.
I was a technology free day today Doug... for the most part. I could tell you about it but it wouldn't be the same. Just spent the last 2 hours around the campfire with the girls and the computer and phone off. Wow, I forgot how nice it was to stargaze instead of gazing at a screen! But alas... here I am... back in the land of backlit screens... LOL

Define "sealing well". I placed a dollar bill where the seal meets the frame and I could pull the bill out with just a little drag. Does that mean the seals are bad? Any tips on buying replacement seals/
