gas smell, tank behind seat
Hey fellers, I replaced the rubber seal where sending unit goes into tank a while ago, I now notice weeping and a gas smell when over 3/4 tank...my question is-what can I use to seal it? I imagine RTV will break down?? I used truck for DD for aboot a month and would like to get issue solved...thanks in advance!

Since you have the "rubber" gasket there are two sealants I would recommend. Old school is the Permatex No 3. The other is something called Loctite Gasket Eliminator No 515. Apply either lightly to each side of the gasket and to screw threads. I prefer the No 515 for easier clean up and better overall performance.
On cork or fiber gaskets I would use the No 515 also. I use it as a gasket dressing, but the No 515 can also be used by itself to replace a gasket.
