From what I've seen, yes that is true. Haven't seen any indication a dealer can do it either. You have to really be rich to afford a "nice" one of these trucks.
The cheapest way to get leather on a 2015 is a Lariat Supercab 500A package. All Lariats come standard with Leather. This is also the only combo to get leather that is not a supercrew.
You could always buy the XLT and go with aftermarket leather like Katskins. You'd get much nicer quality leather.
I like this idea the best. We have a local Dodge dealer that offers the Katskin aftermarkets on the seats. The seats are a much much nicer seat than what comes in the Rams/Chargers. Package prices aren't too bad either.
If you compare super crew, 4x4, EB, 5.5 trucks, an XLT with the 302A package is 46,250 and a base Lariat, 500A is 47,250. I would compare the base Lariat to an XLT + Katskin before making a decision. Of course, base Lariats are pretty hard to find on a lot but can be ordered.
When i was looking at my 2014 trade deal, I found an XLT with a luxury package (leather, captains chairs, HID head lights, 4x4 Offroad ect) and through all the wheelin and dealin, after it was said and done the sales manager said they wouldn't be offering that set up in 15. I didn't put much faith in that since we all know "dealers have all the inside scoop" (said sarcastically). But when a co worker went to look at a 15 with the same package he said they couldn't even order him one, he'd have to get a Lariat package.
Guess I'll have to save up for the Lariat upgrade to keep my leather after this one.
2014 was the first (and for the time being last) year you could get leather in an XLT. It wasn't available with heated seats from the factory, so most people would have wanted to step up another tier anyhow. The leather XLT package last year was a leasing dream because of the discount package Ford had on it. You could lease a $48k truck for the same price as one $5k less. You can get an XL with vinyl and pretend it's leather (-=
