Wink L '99 F350 cab roof clearance lights

I removed my smoked Recon lenses from the lights the other day to sell them and go back to the amber lenses.

Once I removed the lenses I discovered on a couple of the lights 2 "posts" I'm going to call them all rusted to crap.

I was somewhat freaked out, didn't really have time or resources to investigate further.

If I had to say, I'd guess what I saw were positioning pins which are/were part of the roof panel..........

What the heck do I do with this mess?? anyone else incurred it??

Thanks for any suggestions guys!

The factory lights each have 3 holes in the roof. 2 of them are 1/4" for the studs and the other is 9/16" for the wiring connector.

What I think you are describing is the top of the mount studs where it protrudes through the housing. Just means the lenses aren't waterproof. Shouldn't be much of an issue unless water is leaking through them. Any spots in the headliner?

No, No spots in the headliner yet. I want to be proactive and fix this mess BEFORE any further damage occurs.

Guessing I can replace the studs with bolts? (stainless)

Are the original studs welded to the roof panel?

Is there some sort of seal/gasket for around the lens-to-base?

I wonder if the RECON ones didn't seal well?

I don't remember seeing any trouble 2 years ago when I installed them.....

There is nothing but holes in the roof. The studs are molded into the plastic housing of the lights. I don't know if they are replaceable, but I find it unlikely. I don't think there is a lens to housing seal.

If you want to change the housing you need to drop the headliner to access the wiring connectors and the mount nuts.

My factory lights leaked after a heavy rain. Pooling in the overhead cubby. I would seal the amber ones with silicone when you put them back on.
