Good for you and also for others around you on the road. Those Coopers look similar to the Michelins, and may not go as many miles, but I think you mentioned that you have a shorter time horizon for your van anyway.

Plus you will should have more sidewall left when the tread wears out...and it looks like you didn't buy white letter tires which are clearly not the best choice for you

(Funny coincidence--less than an hour ago I cringed as I watched my wife curb a tire on her Civic--nice newish Michelins, but I bought her one size wider last time to keep her wheels further off the curb...and her car has 148k miles on it so this is probably her last set of tires on this car.)

Drive safe,
George

Cool response and 120k is great for a heavy van although I think you pushed them a bit far.

One of my co-workers bought a Dodge Omni brand new in 1978; it had the optional Michelin tires on it, and he got 125k out of that set...which in those days especially was amazing. The bias/belted tires on my '78 Ford pickup (which was my first new vehicle and my first Ford truck), as well as most other tires of the day, lasted 20k miles, period.

i agree totally. Any reasonable person (not me lol) would have considered my tires “to be replaced” around 80-90,000 miles. That’s about when the wear bars were up.
