Need help ASAP with rear turbo bolt

Atempted to change oil cooler and weld up egr cooler today. However im stuck on the rear turbo bolt. I have an early 04 build that has 2 horizontal bolts in front and the vertical one in back.

Bolt rounded off. Tried a biter bit and still cant get it.

My only thought now is to grind it off.

Can I unbolt the pedestal and remove the entire thing?

I can only see 2 pedestal bolts. They are on the drivers side, on top of tne valley of the engine. Where are the otjer pedestal bolts?

Thank you!

Was the bit a 3/8? If not try one.
You may need to hammer it on.

You can but it is so difficult it is just easier to grind the head off. Not that that is so easy either.

I guess the Sears bolt extractor only works for the ones that are horizontal in the back

OK. The bolt extractor that I had was inadequate. I went back to sears ang git the right one, and it came off on the first try.

I finally got the job done and it took 2 full days! I dont know how you guys do it so fast.

Only problem now is that the y pipe is leaking at the turbo connection. I read that loosening the y pipe at the exhaust manifolds is the way to fix it.

Whats the easieast way to get to those inner bolts? Thry look tough to reach.

Sorry there really is no easy way. Even from under the truck with the tranny pulled it is still a chore. What ever you can make work is the right way.LOL
Extensions wobble sockets gear wrenches stubby and long sometimes helps.

Thanks. Just saw a video where a guy attached a ratchet strap to the y pipe and pulled it into the turbo. My concern there woulb be cracking the bellows.

My thought is I need to make the turbo fit the y pipe not the other way around. The y pipe didnt move, the turbo is what moved.

If you hold everything to where it's fairly lined up and smear anti-seize on the Marmon clamp flange then I use an air ratchet this suck it all up and then Bam boom it's done

If you try to tighten the Marlon clamp with everything not lined up it won't seal

If you search some of my older posts I gave a detailed description of how I did it

Thanks. Can you elaborate on your first sentence? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.
