You're right. By the time he gets here we should be able to hammer this out in under two hours. You might as well ride up with him since you'll be experienced also.

So I can get a used H&S Mini Maxx for a smoking price, along with all of EGR delete, exhaust, etc and am wondering if I should do it with H&S no longer providing support but knowing you can't buy DPF delete kits anymore...?

Make sure you plug the mini maxx into a USB port just to get power, look under the info screen to make sure it isn't locked to the last truck it was installed to. Also, call a shop like spe to make sure you can still get a vin unlock code, you will need a code specific to your trucks vin for it to work.

It's unlocked. He tells me that it determines the new truck VIN code when you plug it into new truck... That true? Wants $1500 Cdn for the MM, exhaust and EGR delete. Two years old. Looks to be on great shape. Good deal or no?

If it's truly not vin locked, $1,500.00 is a fairly good deal for the MM alone. To purchase new you're looking at +/- $1,700.00. (U.S.)

I think you will need a code that is specific to your trucks vin. Most shops that sell the mini maxx can generate you that code, cost me 100$. Price seems reasonable, just be sure he shows you its unlocked, if not it use to cost like 400/500$ for h&s to unlock it and not sure if that possible now without h&s support.

H&S will not unlock tuners anymore UNLESS you are the original purchaser, and it was purchased through H&S. That being said, it is imperative that you confirm it's not VIN locked and you can indeed tune your truck with it before purchase.

Thanks guys. I'll get him to show me that it's unlocked. I'll also confirm I can get a VIN code for it before buying.

Honestly my biggest concern is buying an H&S unit with them being out of business.

What do you guys think of Bullydog, SCT and Torque Technologies?

I've heard the Bully Dog (delete capable) are available in Canada, I know nothing about them though, I've heard good things about the SCT tuners, you just can't "tune on the fly" with them as you can the H&S, Torque Tech & (I assume) the Bully Dog.
