Easiest way to reach CPS?

Really long skinny arms... couldn't do it. I was parked in a rather remote area of a lot, near the township cardboard dumpster, which is why I was there in the first place, darn greenies. It was the low spot, all mud, unpaved, and the wife's little Equinox wouldn't move it up the the hill to drier ground. We did get her out of the standing water, but...
So into the mud I went, and it must have been 4" deep, the ooze came over my shoulders. When I got the CPS in, the better, cleaner half started the truck. All was good. This is absolute proof that inanimate objects do get jealous. I had just ordered a spare CPS from RR last week, and it arrived today! Now I have to get another one...

Well, after I went through all of that, it started, ran ok, and I stripped practically down to my underwear to drive the truck the two blocks back to my garage where I left it overnight, and changed and went home with my wonderful wife who tolerates this thing quite well...
This morning it wouldn't start (again) and while cranking I saw smoke from the driver's side battery cable. The PO had spliced a new cable end onto it (about 6 inches up), and the splice was fried. With low voltage I had the intermittent RPM signal again, same as yesterday. I'm now questioning whether the CPS was the problem. Will low battery voltage cause this?
Anyhow, with a fixed splice, and charged batteries, and using Torque, I now see low ICP while cranking, and will now join the other thread currently in progress
