My new" F600 (pics)
I just bought an F600 dump truck. I started out talking to the owner about the doors and he agreed to sell me the doors. Then we talked about a week later and he asked if I would like to buy the whole truck and the price was too good to pass up. The story I got on the history of the truck is that it spent most of it's life in service with a local fire dept. then it was sold several years ago and a dump bed was installed. It makes sense because it is RUST FREE except on small hole in the floor pan where the weather stripping failed. I am not sure what my plane is for it but I intend to get it roadworthy again and then we will see.

I got it running yesterday with a new fuel pump and oil change BUT it was not running very well under a load. The engine sounds great and the brakes, clutch and power steering work very well. I rebuilt the carb last night and fiddled with it all day today and had it running several times but something is still not right with the carb. I probably screwed something up being that it was the first carb I ever rebuilt. If I did it right then I suspect the heat riser is not functioning properly. It will fire up but won't run very long then it is starved for fuel OR air. I have checked all fuel lines and the pump and fuel is getting to the carb. I am not worried about it I will figure it out eventually. I am just happy that the engine sounds great and it drives and stops. I had it running long enough to drive it a couple blocks.

No, I want to keep it a large truck, I already have a 3/4 ton CC. I have a bunch of ideas for it if I keep it. maybe a dually pickup bed on it or a flatbed with short wood sides. I may use it as a tow pig to take my old cars/truck to car shows. I am also considering turning the back seat into a sleeper since it's missing the back seat and I love the look of a crew cab but don't really need the back seat. I even thought about putting a dentside econoline cargo van back portion on the back and making a cool camper type custom van.

I took advantage of the nice weather today and did a little cosmetic work on my F600. I got rid of the snowplow mounting bracket and what I think was a light bar. I also painted over the crappy brushed on gray paint on the front bumper and grill. I just rattle canned it for now, I also painted the gray rims with flat black. I coated the running boards with bed coating
