New to driving a truck

So here's the deal, I own and have been working on a 64' f100 that my dad gave me. Unfortunately it does not run at this time.

I recently, this week, purchased my first everyday truck. A 99' f150. As I have only driven a truck a hand full of time I am seeking advice, tips, thing to know regarding driving my tuck.

Any and all comments welcome!!

Thanks

Welcome.

Other than the bigger size, an f-150 or any other pickup ain't much different to drive than a car etc. More useful for sure. They have 1001 different things to know about and some differences from other rigs, but no more than any rig. They need proper maintenance like anything. Not sure what else to say there.

One piece of advice - if you live in a rust prone area, be careful. That generation truck is very rust prone and they can hide it well.

The rust, yeah it does have a lil rust. Any suggestions on keeping it from spreading?

Preventing rust is mostly cleaning your truck regularly, especially the underside. Keep it free from road grime. Keep steel parts dry. Clean drain holes in the bottom door panels to make sure the rain water flows out.

How to keep rust from spreading - properly fix immediately. Until that, once it starts, it will not stop.

And make sure the underside is solid - don't just go by looks.
