93 F350 cab chassis rebuild questions
Hey FTE crew, I have been lurking on this site for many years. I have had a few OBS trucks and have my newest project at the house now. Its a 1993 F350 (351W) cab chassis truck. Its a true cab chassis and im turning it into a tow truck. A little background on the truck, it was originaly purchased by a propane company brand new in Jacksonville NC and had a stakebody put on it, was used as a delivery truck. It also had (as far as I can tell) a factory ford propane injection kit added on when new. I have since broke down the kit and uninstalled it from the truck as I wanna run regular gas. Heres where my questions come in.
As far as I can tell, the truck has been ran on 100% propane since day 1, I removed the propance injection kit and cleaned up the wiring at the fuel tank selector switch etc, the truck would crank but not start and neither fuel pump would turn on. I have power at the pumps, so my next step is a fuel pump. Does anyone have suggestions on cleaning out the fuel tank?
My next question here is, its going to be a tow truck and im adding a wheel lift, the truck is a factory dual tank truck. I want to remove the rear tank and just run the front 19 gal unit. Can I remove the rear tank and just run the front? Do I have to plug or remove the pressure and return lines going to the rear tank? Should I replace the pusher pump in the front frame rail with a new one too?
