Welcome Aboard Brian! Any pics of your F5?

Good luck over there. What's your plan?

I spent a fair bit of time working on shoehorning a Ford/IH 6.9 (very similar size class) into my F5. Ran into too many problems getting clearance between the headers and frame rails, steering box and pedals. Might have been doable if I was willing to cut apart the cab and doghouse it to sit the engine higher, but I opted to go for an inline diesel instead.

I put one in my f1. Same idea basically, but put a mustang rack in so there is probably more clearance for the steering. I used the sanderson headers that are made to fit a 460 into an f1. I did have to move the radiator forward. You'll either have to modify the firewall, or move the radiator. I don't think youll be able to get it in there without moving something.

Nice set up. My truck was a 6 cylinder one so the radiator is a little forward already. I am considering running a passenger manifold on the driver's side like a Y block. Not sure yet.

If you look at the last picture, the rear radiator saddle of that double saddle that i made is mounted in the 6 cylinder position ( the picture where it is touching the water pump in in the 6 cylinder position.). With the beam axle, you might be able to get the engine lower than I could which would let you move the engine back further without cutting up the firewall.
