Help! Conversion to Dual Bowl Master Cylinder 55

Hello everyone,

I bought a bracket to mount a 67 mustang master cylinder to my otherwise stock 1955 Ford F-100 with manual transmission on the floor. There is a clearance issue with the MC pushrod end and the clutch mechanism. Does anyone have experience converting to a dual bowl MC on a 55 F-100. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary

You didn't say where you got the bracket. I got mine from MidFifty. There is a kit for changing the clutch linkage to work with the dual master cylinder. See my post on how I installed the dual cylinder and clutch linkage kit:

Here is a thread that shows the clutch linkage installed:

Dual Master Cylinder conversion 55 F100

EffieTrucker,

Thank you for these posts. This is exactly what I am going through. I got my bracket and MC from Engineered Components/Hot Rod Brakes. I don't have the luxury of working on my frame without the cab installed. How do you get the shaft out? Is it a press fit?

Thank You,

Gary

It's more difficult with the cab on but not impossible.

You have to remove the metal plates in the floorboard that surround the pedals. Drive out the pin indicated in the picture below and the clutch pedal should rotate down and the shaft should pull out toward the driver's side rocker panel. You might have to drive off the part the pin holds on. If I remember, the original was on pretty tight.
