what transmission came with 302?

I have an opportunity to get a 95 f150 with a 302 motor in it for a really cheap price. It has a bad overdrive transmission in it. my question is this trans an aod or something else?
thanks for any info

In 95? Some one else can chime in but i think it would be an e4od or 4r70w

E4OD or 4R70W (AODE).

If the button is on the shifter it is a E4OD I am pretty sure the 4R70w has it on the column where you put it in OD.

It would be rare but it could also be an AOD, get the trans code from the drivers door pillar to be sure.

Doubt it. Overdrive enable is electronic on both transmissions, so it would be a button in either case.

AODE was only used in cars, the trucks got the 4R70W instead, which also had a few upgrades over the car 4R's.

I always thought the AODE and 4R70w was the same just named different depending on application.

LMCs list says 4R70w then in parenthesis AODE.

Yes many places use the two names interchangably but the problem is there was an actual AODE trans that shares next to nothing in common with the 4R70w and it was never used in trucks.

Yeah lots of people confuse them. See my explanation here:

Dixie thanks for that info reps sent for the help describing the two.
Not the first time LMCs information was incorrect. LOL
