2011-2014 F-150 trim levels - what's right for me?
So, at this point I'm looking at the 2011-2014 F-150's. At this point I'm leaning towards either the 6.2 or the 3.5, maybe the 5.0 as well. I want the White Tri-Coat metallic too. At this point I'm thinking of getting a Platinum with a 6.5' bed and the Max Tow Package. The Limited or Lariat Limited would be nice as well, only problem is that I hate the wood trim. I guess I could always paint or wrap it though.

Looks like I can rule a couple things out - No 2014 Limited because of the blue interior and no XL, XLT, STX, FX2/4, or Raptor because of no White Tri-Coat Metallic. Also, I've never been a big fan of the King Ranch interior either and no Harley Davidson's either as I don't own one. Haha I'd say that leaves me with a Lariat, Platinum, or Limited basically.

Yea, I know they only came in the short bed and they have a lower tow rating because of the 22" wheels. This is why I'm thinking of getting a Platinum. You can get the 6.5' bed and the Max Tow Package as well as the White Tri-Coat Metallic, 4x4, etc. Also, IIRC in 2014 Limited only came in Ecoboost as well with no 5.0 or 6.2 option.

Yes, and you can't put a 5th wheel on 5.5' beds. Cab clearance issue... I actually wanted a Platinum, but don't need the Max Tow option, or the 6.5' bed. When the Limited popped up for the right $$$, that was it. It was perfect for me, since all I pull is my *maybe* 5000 lb boat, mostly. The 7300 lb towing capacity limitation is perfectly fine for me.

I also like the 6.5' bed but I will warn you it makes for a pretty long vehicle in a crew cab. I think my truck is a bit over 22' feet. I don't ever have to deal with big city traffic, parallel parking, or parking garages so the 6.5' bed is pretty easy for me to live with. But I would have to rethink it if I lived in a densely populated area.
I don't know your circumstance but thought I would pass along my personal experience.

If it's the dash you are worried about check out some after market dash kits. I put carbon fiber on my Mustang and it looked nice. If you are looking for the MAX Tow option it would be easiest to find on a XLT. There are Lariats out there that have them. Keep in mind the used Lariats with that option sell fast and go for a premium. If you are towing you'll like the EcoBoost, it does a nice job.

Like I said, I want White Tri-Coat Metallic, so that means no XL, STX, XLT, FX2/FX4/Tremor, or Raptor. I've already got a 2013 Flex Limited in White Tri-Coat Metallic and it would be cool to have matching vehicles. Also, needs to be a 2011+ because I don't want to get a 5.4 truck, would rather have a 5.0 or 6.2 than it. Also, I can rule out any Harley trucks because I don't own or like Harley bikes and I can rule out any King Ranch trucks because I don't want brown/tan interior. I am ok with the brown/black that the Platinum comes in, but definitely no tan carpet. That leaves me with a Lariat, Platinum, Limited, or the special edition Lariat Limited.
I'm sort of leaning towards the Lariat Limited and possibly just changing the wheel and tire package to bring the towing capacity up a bit. The Lariat Limited from 2011 has everything I want basically and they were all essentially spec'd the same. The ideal truck would be a Platinum with the MAX Tow Package and 6.5' bed, but this will be hard to find I think.

Yes, those wheels are pretty popular. I would probably go to 20" wheels. The one nice thing is if I were to just do a small lift or leveling kit I could get snow tires for the truck and it wouldn't look awkward. That's the problem with the F-250. With a 4" lift and 35's it just doesn't perform that amazing in the snow. It's good for moving, but stopping isn't very fun.
