Issues today dont know if she will limp home.. thoughts ideas
-16 today Started fine drove 20 miles fine then like a switch I could not give it throttle. Sounded miss fires/fuel but not a no fuel bog.. would idle fine and didn't quit but could only drive 1/8th throttle or it was horrible. 1/4-1/2 mile later... fine. Just sat in her to use my blue tooth for a call and again started fine then as she warmed acted like misfires and rough. Pulled off regulater vac line and she smoothed out but not perfect. Deleted cat and stock muffler for short duel system a day ago.. related? Just brain storming. Don't think its water in fuel but could be... Ideas gentleman??

ok, im turning off computer now.
to expedite your diagnosis....I'm going to blurt sht out.
sounds like you have low fuel pressure. this could be frozen lines, given your extreme temp. has it been a while since you've filled up?
if its an '89 truck or below, it sounds like your in-tank pump could have failed. more often than not, when one fails, the truck can idle off the frame pump, but as soon as you give it throttle it dies. ive had this happen to me before, and believe me it took me almost an hour to drive what it would normally take a few minutes. I bumped it in low range at idle in order to get it goin, and very gently massaged the pedal for super-part-throttle...finally made it home and tried not to **** everyone off that was trying to drive by.
if you have two tanks, confirm both pumps are working. check fuel pressure while grounding out the fuel pump test port, give it throttle, check press.

relearning doesn't cause drivability issues. you have a problem elsewhere, and if I was a bettin man I'd be betting that you have frozen lines or a weak/failing pump(s). the same symptoms above (ones I described in my miserable limp home) can be associated with a weak in-tank pump of your era. unplugging the fuel press regulator, giving it "max fuel press", and it improving (but not fixing) the issue further indicates weak/failing pump or frozen lines.

Thanks guys.. The unplug batt for flow upgrades was a general question. Is it recommended? Does it learn like newer stuff? Again, I know its not related to this problem.
Thanks for the blerted info!! Time to order new tanks regardless. Motivation I need. Wanted to por 15 this thing first but meh, after is fine also...

You mean "thanks 89f2"... you're welcome!
Sounds like you still have some diagnostics to do, mainly check fp...
yes, the computer does learn, but you need all of your sensors operating properly...namely the o2 sensor. Without the o2 working, it'll just stay in open loop and run how it thinks it's supposed to.

I was at work on my phone (Mobile version of site) Now that I'm on my puter yes, all you sir... The phone gave me half the posts and out of order also.
I got it home and its parked.. May just sit there till spring as I collect parts. Its not a DD just one of my plow trucks. This summer im making 3 into one nice one and retiring the plowing all together. Took them off the city this year just doing driveways.
On the way home it did it again BUT!! If I put it to the boards, it would clean up and go.. So now I just dont know what it is at all.. Thinking ice + it loves to hate me. It has its O2 sensor and the headers I used retained the EGR.. its puter should work. Yet it does have a code its had since I bought it years ago now May have more now. She has not ever acted up since I dropped that engine in last Nov. Never read codes again. Yet, 7-10 MPG should have made me..
Id rep you but think I did years ago and still need to spread it around.. but ill try in a bit lolz
