Nothing wrong at all with the injection system, but I'd be surprised if that truck could get 19 average with a 4x4. I know the base model V8 can get around that much driven gently.

And sorry to say this here in Ford world... About America's biggest selling truck. The GM pickups outsell Ford if you add together both Chevy and GMC sales. Let's just say both Ford and GM make great full size pickups, bless 'me all.
Except that hasn't been the case since 2009, and it was rare in years before that.

looks like it's being sold by a used car dealer, so there's LOTS of room to haggle over the price.

I have a '95 C2500, light 3/4 ton or "heavy half", whatever you want to call it (6 lug/2wd). It's the last year of TBI on the trucks, and approaching 315k miles on stock components. Never starts hard, and it's seen -30°F before. TBI is a wonderful system in my opinion. I believe the claim of 19 mpg as well, mine makes low-mid 20's if you baby it, but of course I'm running 3.42's as well. If it's in any shape, go for it, not as comfy or fun as our Fords, but they make dang good work trucks.

If he has the receipt for the trans and it's a rebuild not from an auto wreckers it seems like a good truck. Frame by rear cab mounts is a good place to look for rot. Haggle on price, but seems decent.

Also, site not sight.

Sorry you are having to go with a Chekrolet.

The good thing is, the TBI system is not hard to diagnose when you have problems.

I had an '86 GM car with the TBI, and got it for free because it ran like crap.

I replaced the throttle position sensor, and reset the computer. Instant major improvement!

I've got a pal with an 88 Cheby 1500, with throttle body. He's had it for 10 years, and other than the fuel filter being replaced a couple of times, has had zero issues.

Chebby is a dirty word here in Ford Country, but we will help you, if it makes you look toward the blue oval for help in the future.

All the best to you in your quest.

I've had 2 of them, both over 300,000, both were z71 4wd, one std cab the other Xtra cab, both were 350 vortecs with automatics
Both got about 13 mpg city and 17 highway. Good trucks. Personally I liked the newer models when they went to a 327 with true fuel
but the tbi wasn't too bad on the one your looking at.

going to look on the weekend, if it's still there. I prefer ford, but this might make a good work truck, cause i won't worry about it if it gets banged up.
thanks for the input. it's got 126,000 miles on it

In all reality they are both good trucks, what it comes down to is what you need, what's available, and what's affordable.

To me, as long as it's good ol' American steel, I don't care who's logo is on it. Every make has it's little quirks. Just happens I find older Ford's a little more enjoyable to drive.

Agreed. I find Fords are less quirky to work on and I like their electrical systems better too.

My first truck was a 93 4x4. grandpa put 200k hard miles on it on the farm. When he drove it unloaded on the highway, it got darn near 20 mpg with the 305. When I drove it, it got 9. 14 years of life experience said "put the pedal to the floor all the time". Honestly, I learned to wrench on that and my 89 caprice (also throttle body injection). It was a great system, hard to kill, and easy to work on. I've been looking around for another.

There is a guy I know around town that bought a half ton extended cab z71 with the 350. It had 299k on it a year ago and ticked like no other. I was on the highway the other day in my mustang driving probably 70 and some wild man flies by me at least 90 and it looked like him. I txt him when I got home and said was that you that flew past me on the interstate? He just laughed and I said when did you get your motor rebuilt and he seemed confused and said I didn't. I couldn't believe it!
