What can match my 2003 V10?

Okay everyone, here's the deal: my 2003 Superduty is still running strong and still uses no oil between changes. The paint looks new, the interior is still looking factory new, & the truck is still as handsome as ever. It pulls my trailer @ 11K lbs any where I have ever wanted. As for now there are no signs of this workhorse giving up. I have 4.30 axles and a Gear Vendor to split the 4R100's gear spread. In double over drive I can get 13 mpg going from sea-level California, to mountain-high Utah and get 15+ going back — solo, of course. Not bad for a heavy 4X4.

So, why am I writing this? I've been shopping for a replacement truck just in case. I love the diesel but no way on this green earth can I pay 48K. And I'm not sold yet on its maintenance costs and reliability vs my bulletin proof Triton V10. They've dropped the V10 option from the 250/350 lineup and only offer a new V8 that doesn't quite have the same specs as my V10, so I can't be sure that it will handle my trailer.

I'd love to hear your first hand experiences on Ford's newer V8 gas engine vs the old V10.

I can see a lot of controversy over this thread but the 6.2L V-8 is designed to what the V-10 does but with better MPG's.

Having said that, I'd never part with the V-10 till it becomes so problematic that it's unaffordable to maintain.
