how much truck do i need

I currently have a 95 i6 with a 5 speed truck still runs great . but I think I need something with a bit more power. I will mostly be pulling a car trailer. and it's load will very between cars to trucks. the i6 will pull it but it don't like the weight that much. and sometimes it can be hard to keep it at speed especially on hills witch is why I haven't gone out to far to pick something up. So I need a truck that will pull the load no problem and keep highway speed. So how much do you guys think I need thanks. And it has to be gas it gets quite cold in Indiana during winter. and don't want a diesel because of that.

I have a 2002 CREW cab, F150 with the 5.4 V8. It works great for pulling a car/ truck/ small tractor on a 2 axle trailer. I have the 3.55 rear axle ratio.

i had an i6 with a 5 speed 3 trucks ago. with an extra leaf in the rear i could easily haul + 2000# (2950 the record) it could pull it but it wasnt happy. i upgraded toa 98 4.6l with 200k on it. even with the tired motor it was a huge improvment. i pulled a 2800# camper with a 800# 4 wheeler in the bed, the motor had enough power to do it, but the trans was unhappy when i was going up long (3 min) steep hills. i didnt want to snap it so i wouldnt let it keep shifting up and down. with a younger driveline i wouldnt hesistate. in this generation having a 5.4 will give you a bit more power, as much as your jump from i6 to 4.6 i dont think so. my opinion. any way you go upgrading should help your problem

I'm kinda thinking a v10 it gets about the same mpg as 5.4. and has quite a bit more power should pull any thing I want. you think that would be over kill for my needs. And should get a 5.4 instead.

Are you hauling cars for a living or for fun?

F250 V10 in biggest one I could afford if it is for a living. F150 5.4 for fun.

I have a 10K trailer that weighs 2700 pounds - 2 axle car hauler.. I haul 4000# cars, 5000# trucks... and 5-6 times per year a 7500# bob cat. A little over the rating on the bob cat, but pulls it no problem .............. 5.4 motor with 3.55 gears.

Thanks guys for all your input so far. Sounds like a 5.4 will do just fine for what I need. but I think I'm going to get one in an f250 trim though I don't like the looks of the f150 in this body style. And a 5.4 should be cheaper to buy than a v10 to
