Update 11: Called dealer, new motor is in and they are finishing everything up. Said it should be ready tomorrow, but to play it safe early next week. I asked if there was anything special that I need to do for ending break-in and was told no. I will still follow the manual for break in (basically, vary RPMs and keep the rev's down).
Service writer said to come back in 500-1000 miles to re-torque and check items as needed.
Looking forward to getting it back.

I'm happy to hear it for ya. Let us know how it goes when you get it back. I'm sure you will, though

I wish I could get as lucky as some of you with getting my tapping issue resolved. I bought the truck as cpo in December and noticed the noise about a month in. It has been to my local dealer 3 times and each time they tell me they cannot reproduce the noise. I will say when I have picked it up it won't do it of course but a day or two later it starts doing it again. Mine varies in volume, sometimes its really loud and noticeable others its not very noticeable. I even took several videos of the noise and sent it to the service manager before it was in the last time. He admitted he believed there was an issue but same result when I left, they can't duplicate it.

She's back!
Update 12: A little over a month later and she's back. Looks like they did a very clean install and no scratches in paint that I could find. Everything is whisper quiet and it looks like the PCM was re-flashed too as the shift strategy seems a little different. Also, it seems that the cooling fan now comes on at cold startup briefly. Anyone else have that happen? Pictures attached and Invoice included.
New motor also has an dipstick extension that does seem to make it much easier to check the oil level. Added a pic of that as well
Dealer requested I come back in 500 miles to check torque on some of the installed components. Also recommended first oil change at 3k, which I plan to do at home.

I believe my cooling fan comes on when I first start my truck in the morning. I notice the RPMs start out just a bit over 1000, and then backs off to normal idling after about 20 secs. If my truck is any indication, it sounds like what yours is doing with the cooling fan is par for the course.
BTW, I haven't been able to locate the transmission fluid dipstick on my truck. How do I check that/where is it located?

Checking the trans fluid is a pain, the dipstick is tiny and covered by the filler plug on the side of the trans.

Help!!
So I own a 2011 ford f150 with the 5.0 and I'm having ticking issues with it. I have noticed it comes from the same side as anyone else's does. But seems when the idle is coming down around 1200 rpm sounds like a chain rubbing together but stops around 800.

2011 F 150 5.0 xlt tick sound
Hi, Anan
how are you?
I notice the tick sound when my truck pass 80000 mileage. Always change the oil with ford dealer. This is my first ford truck was loving it all the time, but now is very disappointed. Maybe consider other truck brand after this Please advice if it will cause big damage down the road? My truck is already out of warranty now and I can't afford to pay the big bill. Thanks a lot!
