Where to buy?

I see people riding around in vehicles that were formerly owned by local police departments, state and federal government, and VDOT. Some of them have quite low miles so I'd actually be interested. Problem is, where do you find these vehicles? Any VA guys that know that could chime in, I'd love to hear from ya.
Thanks

I've bought two "P71" Crown Vic Police Interceptors in the past two-plus years. For various reasons, I've sold them. While it is something of a crap shoot, I've had great experiences. One I did buy from a municipality I used to work for and I know they maintain their fleet well and have deeper pockets than many in my area. Try PublicSurplus dot com and GovDeals dot com. I have quite a few more tips for you if you get serious.

I had a Caprice 9C1 as a daily driver for eight years in the 90s. That thing was indestructible.

Added: Ah, I see you are in the Tidewater area. There is an auction house somewhere in your area, and one in the Richmond (Richmond Auto Auction), that did a bit of gov vehicle auctions with seemingly good mileage and condition. I think you'd get a better chance at a pre-inspection there than the auction websites. Never looked into it further due to time and distance.

Might not be the right term, but checking out the vehicle before bidding on it.
