You can paint the spring, and put oil on it, but don't do both at the same time.

Welcome from Maine Sam!

You're doing great despite the cold and lack of funds. Every project has it's hard areas and you have found the best place for knowledge, tips, specifications, and just as important....moral support to minimize those challenges.

Keep up the good work, take your time don't rush anything cause that truck has been waiting a long time for the attention you are giving it and ask us if you need anything.
......and naturally, post a picture every now and then.

Going to get a bath tonight and prepped for paint

Well not much going on but I am starting to paint. I got both my front springs painted and new bushings are going in. Going to paint rest of front suspension parts tonight. My front axle and my rear differential are being blasted and painted as I write this. I should hopefully have them back on Friday morning. I'll finish cleaning the rear springs hopefully next week. I have surgery Friday so I'll be pretty much disabled over the weekend but I can sit at a bench and paint some springs that are cleaned with rust-oleum also got a good amount of parts in so I can get this old girl into a roller!!! I should be getting my cab sandblasted and primered soon...so far so good

Also was digging through some photos and found my grandpas truck. It's an F1, not sure what year but he bought it new. It has a the 239 in it. It was parked in this pasture in 1970 and everybody forgets why...just kind of a neat story I thought some of you guys might enjoy. I really wash I had a place to store this one but I'm afraid she might be too long gone as her frame has been in the ground probably for 20 years now. It's causing me some stress I can't save it myself. The farm was just sold because my grandpa passed away in 2003 and my grandma is in a nursing home now, no need for the farm now. Somebody want to dig it out??

Well not much going on but I did gut the cab today and got it on a 2x6 frame on casters. Thank god I'm young I lifted one end of the cab up at a time and slid the 2x6 with casters on it underneath. Cab is in excellent shape, I am very pleased. Once I get my differential and front axle back I'm taking my cab to get sandblasted and primed. I'll post more pictures this week of everything.

The handles and cranks are easy to remove. The escutcheon rings between the door and the crank/handle are spring loaded. Push them toward the door to reveal the shafts with attachment pins. Drive the pin out and the crank/handle can be removed. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.

Thank you FortyNiner I really appreciate it! Next time I'm out at the truck I'll get that crossed off my list!

Just a little update. Couldn't help myself but put some springs on...shock struts might be on backwards. Please don't mind that other thing in the background that's my daily driver.

Prebent SS brake lines

Hi guys I have another question. I have been looking at prebent brake lines and on NPD the prebent lines are for the F2. I am just curious if these lines will work on the F3 because the F2 and F3 have the same 122'' wheelbase and are pretty much the same. Am I missing something?

I used the inlinetube pre-bent set. Got it on Epay; I think it was on sale for the SS set at the steel price and free shipping. The pieces were "close" as far as pre-bent goes except the two short pieces on the rear timken. Those I had to do some modifications to fit somewhat correctly... but they worked.

I can get you some pics later this week if you want, lmk

rims came

Well after what seemed like eternity my rims from stockton finally came. They look nice and I am pleased. Tomorrow they go to the powder coaters! Then I can't wait to put some tires on...
chassis is super close to being a roller. NPD sent me wrong parts so I gotta get that straightened out.

Sammy, Your truck project is moving along nicely. May I ask what the Stockton wheels cost to have done and what size and width rims you had put on? I'd also like to know what size and brand tires you will be using. I'm still using the 17" original wheels. My rear tires are in great shape and tall so I can do 60 on the highway, but my front were old stock when I bought them new in 1985 and need replacing.
My F-3 also comes from Iowa, near Stacyville and the bed is from Giant Mfg. in Council Bluffs Iowa.
Thank you, Patrick
