1988 Half ton straight six F-150, I think...

Hi all. First post here. Recently bought this and all I know about vehicles is how to change oil, tires, and when it's time to call a mechanic. Can someone tell me what I have here and if $1600 was a fair price. Thanks.

Looks decent, 300 inline 6 is super reliable and easy to work on. Automatic or manual trans?

Manual. 5 speed. What do you mean about the gears and T-18 Trav?

I must be wrong then because T18 is a 4speed.

The gears are in the rear end. Not sure how to explain everything.

Transmission Code "F" should be a T-18 4 speed manual transmission.

Then if it is a 5 speed somebody must have swapped a M5OD (only gain is Overdrive but not the strongest transmission from my understanding) or a ZF5 (which in my opinion is the best stick shift for these year trucks).

More then likely the M5OD to get away cheap or gain overdrive.

I did some googling for the difference between open diff and limited slip. My basic understanding is "it ain't no racetruck" lol. Which is fine, i just needed something to get back and forth to work and maybe take a pretty redneck girl camping in from time to time. Thanks for all the replies fellas, its been helpful!
