after market cruise control any good?

I saw where Ford quit putting cruise control on Rangers, or started relying on dealers to do it, can't remember which. I do want cruise, anyone with experience putting on some 3rd party stuff?

I know a fellow who had one on a Crown Vic. His worked very well but would not set any speed above 77 MPH. (which is fast enough anyway)

I have installed three different aftermarket systems. They have all worked fine.

The Crown Vic likely is sending too many pulses to the controller, or the controller is set to a different installation, which exceeds the pulse count limit. If set for FWD on a drive axle, the rotation is a lot less than a driveshaft on a Vic, so could exceed the limit easily.
I have bought at JCPenney, and JCWhitney, but do not know if they carry any more.

I got mine at autozone about 10 Years ago. Firget the brand but it one from one of the folks that makes radios etc so it is in to electronics (its an AUDIOVOX). Did have a few questions and the 800 number worked but the guy at the time was kinda crabby.

Dont drive on the highway much anymore but it still works when I use it. I put the magnets on the drive shaft and did not cut into the vss wiring. Same type as I had on my old ranchero and a subaru. I think it was around $100.

Actually as I think of it it woreks like a ford one has an on button, so I would think a guy could get a steering column out of a ranger that had cruise splice the wires and use the stuff on the steering wheel. I just mounted the controler over under the headlight switch on left side of dash. Just depends on how creative you would want to be I guess.

Rostra is all electric and taps into the vss wire. No vacuum to contend with no magnets to set. Pretty slick system. And yes Ford in these models years use 8000 pulses per mile.

Which model Rostra did you use? I went to their site and there is no mention of a kit for a Ranger.
