Welcome to FTE.

You might try a forum search for [IMRC], (Intake Manafold Runner Control), as there are a number of threads on this forum about it, what it's for, how it works & how to trouble shoot & or repair it.

If you need more info, just "bump" one of those threads, or start a new one just for your problem, from the thread listing page, atop this forum & you'll get replys focused just on your vehicles problem.

This thread is about the IAC, (Idle Air Control), which doesn't have anything to do with an IMRC.
Also atop the forum is a "Tech Info" thread that you may find helpful.

I have a 1998 Ford Ranger 2.5 that will not idle when coming to a stop. Have changed IAC, TPS,Plugs,02 sensors. Checked EGR and sprayed with starting fluid while at idle to check for vac leaks. Still wont idle after raising RPM and coming back to idle. It will idle rough and quit. Help

Hi guys and gals,, I haven't read all posts on this subject but,,, has anyone tried the Ford dealers for this IAC?? seems like they would still carry this in their inventory. What do they do with NOS parts when they get so out-dated?? Just wondering is all.

If your mechanic cleaned the IAC with the same stuff used on the throttle body he did a no-no. He should have used a plastic safe cleaner labeled for cleaning throttle bodies. You may be better off replacing the IAC. Also find and remove the red, plastic tube.
