Firstrider, It had the fancy heater but nothing left in truck cab now, no radio ever, back bumper appears to be home-made.

AXracer, Thanks, I will check out those posts!

Ben, Yes I still have the Yellow 1949, it is apart currently as I am updating the 302 to EFI/EECIV, rebuilding the AOD, rewiring the whole truck, relocation gastank, rebuilding all the 1983 El Camino front suspension & then doing some paint repair. I was looking for a 1951-52 cab rear window to update the '49 to eliminate the blind spot, when I found this 1952 F-1. The new truck has an awesome nice cab; both doors are completely rust-free, only one small rust hole in the cab floor.

Odo shows 48K miles, truck not driven since 1975 and has been apart since 1990's. It was stored indoors until 7 weeks ago. I just could not stand to see it sitting outside, so bought it to save it. Everything, including Mustang II front suspension parts, for under $2000. I feel that was good price for great cab, clean frame with vin & Title, near perfect hood, repairable fenders,,etc.

Hey Walt,
That's a screaming deal! I paid $2500 for just the No Limit Mustang II IFS - so.... You got your whole truck for free! I've got a '50 with the same small back window. We've got a real nice modern concave rearview mirror & with a lot of careful looking - don't seem to notice the blind spot much even in Austin traffic.

I have a section of the cab with a section of the 51/52 if you still want to do the conversion on your 49.

51PanelMan,

That's a interesting offer. You have the whole rear panel for a 51-52 cab from roof line to belt line?

The reason I started looking for a 51-52 cab is that my 49 cab has some issues; small rear window blocks rear side view, cowl vent seal area was rusty so prior owner sealed it shut, once I opened it I found why he sealed it, and left front corner of cab has a 3" hole that he plugged with a rag dipped in bondo, or and the floor has been patched with sheet stock where the original seat mounted (he installed an S-10 seat).

So, the easy solution to my cab issues, find a rust-free original 51-52 cab and just change the dash.

Not sure what to do now.

I made the trip to Nevada DMV today, and after a 5 hour wait (yep, that is what we put up with here), I got the promise of a Nevada title for the 1952 F-1 in 3-5 weeks. I got the VIN inspected by local police earlier this week, no problem, numbers on frame are clear.

Still not sure what I will do with this truck. I had a buddy that was interested, but his wife decided he did not need it.

I got some time today so I took the doors off the cab. We tried pushing the hinge pins out with a special tool, but the would not budge, so I started attempts to remove the hinge bolts. 4 hinges, 3 bolts in each, 12 bolts total, only 4 would come out after hours of soaking and using an impact hammer driver, so I drilled out the remaining 8.

the doors and the cab are in great shape.

Desert trucks are amazing, look at the screw that holds the weather stripping to the door.

That is after 62 years.

Yes, I have the section from the roof line to belt line. A friend also has a 51-52 can but the roof has been cut for a donor to chop another roof. It may have been cut in the window areas. That cab also has a good 51-52 dash.

Let me know if you're interested.

I used to sell used truck parts at the Carlisle Truck Nationals. The vendor next to me would take a trip each year to the dry part of Colorado and bring back cabs, doors and other parts. He showed me how rust free this Western stuff was by removing a screw in a door panel not with a screwdriver but with a dime!

Well I sure know what to do with it! Curl up next to it with my arms wrapped around it whispering sweet nothings into it's side mirror and stroking the cab corners. Scoring that is like getting a trophy wife!

Oops - Sorry about that guys, it's Valentine's Day and I'm all mushy. That and we are snowed in solid, and trucks in that condition are rare as unicorns around here.

Walt if you ever want to ship that over here, I promise to make you and everyone else proud with how I'd honor it and give it a good home. I'd happily pay any and all mail-order bride expenses too.

Tom

Boy that annoys me. I just spent a couple of days letting some screws soak then I ended up drilling them out. That makes me a bit jealous.

That cab is looking nice!
