Momentary Purge Valve Squeal on Start Up
Hey guys, my son brought this to my attention the other day. On first start up, or after sitting for a couple of hours, there is a noticeable squeal when he starts his truck. The truck runs fine, idles fine, no misfiring or any noticeable engine issues that would point towards a vacuum leak.
I changed the hose that runs from the Purge Valve to the manifold almost a year ago. Expensive little sucker, about $68.00 bucks.
Any idea on why it has started squealing? I can't tell if it is a sucking squeal or a discharge squeal. It is momentary only. Any ideas?

If the temperatures are quite low, the squeal is possibly the drive belt slipping a small amount.
My truck does this when the temps are around 10 degrees or lower on first start, then goes away right after cranking.
If this is what happenes on your truck I would not worry about it.
Good luck.
