You need a new transmission.

I have to wonder why you are in 4wd on a highway anyhow...

If you've been runnin' on the highway in 4wd it is probably why the transmission got ruined -

EVEN IF the tires and wheels are all the same size to begin with, over time they wear and any mismatch makes the 4wd gearbox fight itself until it goes to pieces.

4WD is for offroad, where tires run at different speeds depending on grip. You run it on the highway where it has constant grip on all four and the gears will be ate up in no time...

He said "...put in 2 gear drives ok"

I don't have a decoder, but I think that means he had the gear selector in the "2" position vs. "D" or "OD".

Beats me......

Any way you look at it, the gearbox is shot.

That isn't an engine, it's a tranny fail. What I wanted to point to was that it could be avoided after a new unit is installed by being aware of what the limitations of 4x4 are.

It's amazing that it still has 2WD

I may be mistook here - if by 2-gear he means to say SECOND GEAR and it is a rear wheel drive -then there is still a major tranny issue

Sometimes it is hard to understand what people who are unfamiliar with what they drive are talking about. But an EXPY is normally 4X4

You have to admit - the guy doesn't write very descriptively

Look at his other post. Brevity might be the soul of wit, but you can't take it to such extremes.......

~ I imagine we can only wait breathlessly for post number three

*I should probably not be so sarcastic, it's easy to become intimidated at a new forum
