Yes, the yellow lever. If nothing comes out then it is al gunked up and will have to be cleaning.

There is a kit that contains a gasket. You would remove the three bolts from the side and then clean it out. sometimes you can stick a pipe cleaner in the yellow handle and get it to flow as well.

I get it. Ford it is.

Local dealer quoted me one hour labour plus $90.00 for filters.

Sound right?

If I got out and pull the lever and drain some fluid, whatever it may be, do I need to do the six thirty second cycle before I start?

no key cycling required to drain the separator.

diesel filters online is where I get my fuel filters.

Since you are in a crunch then maybe you have to bit the bullet and pay the additional costs.

Just came back from a fifty km drive with no issues period. Truck drove great. Easily knocked 160 kph out of her.

Now. What could it have been? Something serious?

I watched a YouTube video that said that yellow lever would drain the filter bowl.

Is this correct?

If you leave it open long enough. I just drain enough to see what's in there. If no water, which I haven't seen any yet, I just drain a couple ounces.

I don't know what to say. Intermittent problems are tough to figure. How do you fix it if it ain't broke? Or in your case, the problem is gone for now?

Last summer, I was in my 99 going down a hill, and the motor shut off. It's a 6 speed so the motor kept turning over. I floored it while at the same time moving over to the shoulder. It got down to 30mph then it took off like nothing was wrong. No codes, nothing. It never happened again.

I'm going to get the filters done and hope for the best. I love this truck but not enough to spend 10,000 a repair bill. I've seen the video where they take off the cab to make turbo repairs.

I'm very nervous about this.

My truck did the same thing as you're describing. Turn your key on with engine off and get down by the water drain and listen to the electric fuel pump. Mine was pretty noisy. Replaced pump and good to go. You can replaced just the pump or the whole horizontal fuel conditioning module.

That sounds expensive.

It's going to the dealer tomorrow for filters.

Let's see how it works after that.
