88 f250 cuts out.... spout circut failure

Hello. I have a 1988 ford f250. Truck is cutting out. I believe it is in the ignition. I have replaced plugs, wires, caps, and rotors. I have repaired a vacuum leak and replaced the TFI module. I am getting code 12 and 41. Initially I was getting a 14,12 , 21, and 37. I had gotten code 41 a couple years ago. EGR tube was plugged. Intermittently cuts out and can't figure out what it is. I am looking how to trouble shoot spout circut . The Chilton manual doesn't help much. Also I check fuel pressures. They were in mid 30s. Any help would be appreciated. Also any free online service manuals available? Thanks guys!

the spout really isn't a circuit as it is just a wire. Search on google for spout connector and you will see what it is. What it does is tell the computer to not advance timing and you would do this to check your timing with a light. If you don't unplug the spout connector then the computer will change the timing electronically and you won't get accurate results with a timing light.

So what would code 12 spout failure mean then?? The jumper wires not in place?? I seen the plug for it next to the tfi plug. Looked like it was capped off.. which I assume might be a jumper.??
thanks!

Yes, the connector is jumper, that's it.

Codes can be found on line: https://www.google.com/search?source...c%20iv%20codes

The spout (short for spark output) circuit's plug is jumpered internally. To test it you just put a timing light on the engine.

With the plug removed, timing should hold steady wherever you have it set. Then with the engine still running, put the spout jumper plug back in and you should see the computer continuously adjusting the timing advance as the engine idles. If that happens the the spout circuit is working normally.
