So I've got a 2002 ranger with the 3.0L V6 in it and I started having some issues with it a few days ago, I admittedly went a little longer than I should have with out doing an oil change, on time not miles. The other day I started getting a tick from the engine that became really audible around 2,250-2,500 rpms. Also, for a week or so before this, occasionaly when I would accelerate from a stop my oil pressure gauge would drop to 0 for a few seconds but go back up to being fine, I checked my oil but I was still in the good range on the dip stick. I went through and finally did the oil change, I ran motor medic through before hand to help clean out any gunk, and then put in a full 1qt bottle of the Lucas oil stabilizer and 3 quarts of Castrol 5w20 oil with a new filter and was reading about 2 quarts high on my dip stick, when this engine calls for 4.5 qts in an oil change, and I still have the ticking. Has anyone had anything similar happen or does anyone have any suggestions?
